Funeral eulogies, eulogy examples. How to write a eulogy.



Do you need funeral eulogies? Writing a eulogy may be emotionally difficult but can be rewarding all the same.

Hopefully some of the eulogy tips from our eulogy example will help.

1) A Eulogie Is:

-A remembrances of the deceased.

-Can be serious, full of stories of youth and family.

-Can be humorous, full of jokes remembered and shared with the deceased.

2) Gather Information Carefully:

-Set the tone, serious or lighthearted?

-Contact family members and friends of the deceased collect biographical facts such as marriage dates, places lived, and any unique hobbies or memberships to clubs.

-Important: talk about positive qualities not negative ones.

3) Other Information Sources:

-Old photographs.

-Family stories, genealogical information, memories of family outings or events.

4) Tips For Practicing speaking And Delivery:

A) Practice Your Presentation By:

-Reading your notes out loud to see how they sound.

-Asking a friend or family member to listen to you.

-Speak in a conversational manner.

B) Delivering Your Presentation:

-A eulogy does not have to be perfect.

-Whatever you write and deliver will be appreciated by the people in attendance.

-It is acceptable to read the eulogy all the way through, you don't have to make eye contact.

-If you need to cry in the middle of your speech, it's ok, everyone will understand.

-Breath deeply

-Recompose yourself, then continue.

-Remember, your surrounded by loving friends and family.

-No one is judging you.

-Be yourself and you will do fine.

-Keep your eulogy respectful.

-Plan an ending to your eulogy so that you know when to quit speaking.

-Occupations

-Social organizations they belonged to

-Marriage/children

B) Human Interest Information

-Events that shaped the lost loved one's life

-Family anecdotes

-Fond memories of your own

C) Religious Service

-Bible readings

-Prayers

-Sermon

-Songs

D) Conclusion

-Where burial will be held

-Post funeral gathering information ex. Families home

-Presence or absence of graveside service

-Prayer
