Funeral Poem For A Grandfather

The following poem is an excellent example of a funeral poem for a grandfather.

One of my cousins wrote this poem when our grandfather passed away.

This poem might not make mean much to the average reader, but to all in our family, it's an excellent arrangement of words that reminds us of our grandfather. This is the reason I am using this funeral poem as an example.

The Poem:

We write this to Grandpa, the one we adored,
So jolly, so happy, but man could you snore.
The Piggy Man Story was our favourite by far,
You gave us big whoppers, and of course, the change jar.
To the times we played checkers, oh the hours we spent,
To the ducks that we fed, off to Little Mountain we went.

Chestnuts you loved, the figs you would eat,
We all loved the chocolate, it sure was a treat.
The tone of your whistle, so happy a sound,
Out under the grapes, we'd nap on the ground.
Spaghetti for dinner, a large hunk of cheese,
Our Grandpa the baker, a jelly role please.

A map was never needed to get you around,
The advice that we cherished from you it was found.
The five o'clock news, and on Friday the track,
Fly home to Italy, oh when will you be back?
An afternoon snooze, asleep with one ear open,
Watch out for the switch, nah, grandpa's just jokin'.

We thank you, our Grandpa for all that you've done,
You gave us your all, and life was sure fun.
Till we see you again, in paradise we'll be,
Your love will never be forgotten, I know we all agree.
Who do we love the most?, Your question still remains,
It's you we love with all our hearts, and that will never chance.
